Forgiven

How does a 56 year old Baptist preacher in an Army uniform tell thousands of young Warriors who have actively participated in the chaos of war forgiveness is theirs for the asking?

I was given tickets to a Dave Matthews concert for my birthday last year. The venue was a beautiful outdoor setting in central Washington. There was a strong military presence. As the sun was setting a popular band, "Dispatch" sang "The General." I cannot get the crowd's response after 3:30 out of my head. It was not traditional worship, but I believe there were thousands of people there looking for grace; forgiveness.

I want to provide meaningful, relevant, dynamic worship for soldiers and their families. I, a 56 year old male, am concerned my worship experience and culture may be a little dated. I  believe the only way to have a right relationship with the creator is through faith in the fact that Jesus loves us and died for the sin of the world literally rising from death on the third day, providing forgiveness.

Music and worship form are not the Gospel.

I like old hymns of the faith, and liturgy. They prove a tactile atmosphere of worship for me. I appreciate the way they tell a story and teach doctrine.  Praise and worship music can do the same, but for me it is sometimes lacking. I also am a child of the 60s and appreciate Rock and Roll and Blues. Drums do not offend me in worship, but failure to generate a true atmosphere of worship does. The folks in the video clip were truly worshiping the concept of forgiveness. I want to introduce them to the Source.

Any input regarding the first question above?

Blessings
